Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) ********************************************************* UPGRADING TO ATCsimulator® VERSION 1.1 FROM 1.0.462 OR LATER. These instructions were to have been provided via an insert with the 1.1 package. Some customers failed to receive this information and we are providing it here to help you update with the new version. STEP 1. BACKUP CAREER RECORDS Copy any Career records to a temp location. The file names of career records are created from the last name, and first initial of the controller name you have entered. For example, the files containing the career records for Brad Davis would be contained in; DavisB.dat The list of all of the controller names are stored in the file; Trainees.dat So, to preserve these records, move these files to a different location on your hard drive or floppy. But, remember when you move them to so we can retrieve them once the installation is complete. STEP 2. REMOVE PREVIOUS VERSION OF ATCsimulator® Remove ATCsimulator® using; START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS The folder for ATCsimulator® will be left behind. You should manually delete it using Windows Explorer. This folder is typically; "C:\Program Files\ATC Simulator(TM) by AEROSOFT(USA)" STEP 3. REMOVE REGISTRY INFORMATION ABOUT ATCsimulator® Use; START > RUN > "REGEDIT" > [Enter] Expand and locate the following key: My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\ATCSimulator Click on 'ATCSimulator' and then delete it by pressing the [Delete] key. Exit REGEDIT. STEP 4. INSTALL VERSION 1.1 Insert the new 1.1 CD. If your CD is set to autorun, the installation will begin automatically. If not, use; START > RUN > "D:\SETUP.EXE" D: = your CD-ROM drive letter. If yours is different, substitute with the correct letter. The installation will begin. Once it is complete, DO NOT REMOVE the CD. STEP 5. RUN ATCsimulator® VERSION 1.1 FOR THE FIRST TIME Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation. Once the Sector Installer appears, click on the [Begin] button. Once it is complete, click on the [Exit] button to leave the installer program, to run ATCsimulator®. STEP 6. MOVE CAREER RECORDS BACK Once the program is completely installed, you can now use Windows Explorer to move the files in step 1 into the ATCsimulator® folder. The new folder location for ATCsimulator® is now; "C:\Program Files\ATC Simulator" Version 2.0 | Version 1.5 | Version 1.1 | Version 1.0 |
